Understanding Psychotropic Medications in Psychiatry and Clinical Social Work: A 2-hour workshop on the general concepts and applications of psychotropic medications in psychiatry taught in a simple to understand manner. The workshop will also discuss clinical pearls regarding each major medication class and what clinical signs to look out for (side effects, symptom benefits, etc.) in real practice.

Join us to learn more about the fundamental knowledge on psychotropic medications and the interface between psychopharmacology and social work practice, from a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

Instructor: Richard Callado, M.S. PMHNP-BC

Mr. Callado has almost 13 years of experience working in the specialty of psychiatry serving both the pediatric and adult population in the emergency room, outpatient clinic, and acute and long-term hospitalization settings. He is board certified as a psychiatric mental health registered nurse and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He is currently working as the main prescriber at the Flushing “On-Track” program for first break psychosis, treating pediatric and adult clients. He is also a covering provider at the Child Center Outpatient clinics at Flushing and Woodside, experienced in providing face to face as well as Telepsychiatry services to children and adults. Experienced in treating Psychotic disorders, mood disorders, and childhood onset disorders. He is certified to practice in NY, PA, and NV.
