Working approximately 30 hours per week, duties and responsibilities include overseeing maintenance of office equipment; answering and directing phone calls; managing the office calendar; writing and distributing minutes; renewing memberships; ordering supplies; requisitioning checks; generating contracts and pay orders; entering and updating data into various computer systems; maintaining files; assisting with end-of-year event planning; and assisting the Dean and professors with the completion of other tasks.

The School of Social Work has an opening for the full-time, 11-month position of Director of Field Education. The Director of Field Education is responsible for the overall development of Field Education programs and policies across program levels, BSW and MSW, and across all campus sites. The Director of Field Education is especially expected to continuously improve the Field Education Program as the signature pedagogy of the social work program and work in conjunction with BSW and MSW program directors and other faculty members as needed. This position reports to the Dean of the School of Social Work.

Preferred Qualifcations:
1) 8+ years of professional post-graduate Social Work Experience.

The School of Social Work has part-time openings for Field Education Liaisons. Liaison roles are numerous, complex and based upon the needs of the students, the agency field instructors, the agency or program where the student is placed and the School of Social Work requirements and academic curriculum. The Liaison is a representative of Nyack College, School of Social Work and conducts business guided by the policies and procedures of the Office of Field Education, School of Social Work and Nyack College. Liaisons provide educational, evaluative, supportive, mediation, gate-keeping, administrative and consultative services in this position. Specific liaison services rendered will depend upon the level of experience of the agency or agency field instructor and the needs of a particular student or group of students. Liaisons function as ongoing consultants to the field agency instructors and the field agencies in the selection and planning of first or second year field learning activities that are consistent with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Core Competencies, the School of Social Work curriculum, objectives, policies and the developmental and learning needs of the student.

Duties and responsibilities include:

1. Facilitating Field Instruction Seminar course (14 hours per semester, maximum of 12 students) - meets for 10 sessions.
2. Monitoring of students' progress in field:
• agency visits (minimum 1 each semester)
• Discussing over the phone (minimum of 1 within 1st month of placement)
• Supporting
a. individual meeting with field instructors as needed
b. individual meeting with students as needed
c. mediation of conflicts between students and field instructors
d. facilitation of learning contract activities

3. Collecting Time-sheets, Process Recordings, Supervision Logs, and Field Evaluation via intern tracking database (IPT) throughout academic year (Fall and Spring semesters).

4. Ensuring implementation of college program requirement within agency such as providing supervision meetings, development of learning contracts, and collection of field evaluations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
1. Master’s degree in social work from accredited College or University.
2. 5+ years social work practice experience and a minimum of 3 years in one or a combination of the following: field liaising, field instruction, staff supervision, social work education, or training.
3. Understanding of adult learning methodologies and diverse learning styles of students.
4. Positive liaison ratings from year to year.
5. Must complete Nyack College hiring process and criminal background clearance to serve as a Field Faculty Liaison. Liaisons will not receive student assignments until this has been submitted.
6. Prior clinical supervisory and/or management experience in agency-based settings is desirable
7. Knowledge of current CSWE Accreditation Standards.
8. Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate respect for issues of cultural competency and diversity.
9. Strong oral and written communication skills. (Must be comfortable working with email communication).
10. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
11. Ability to exercise independent professional judgment when appropriate; strong decision-making skills.
12. Ability to meet Field Education Department and School of Social Work internal deadlines.
13. Computer Skills: Proficiency in all programs of the current Microsoft Office suite.

The Social Work Department of Nyack College invites applications for a nine-month tenure track Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor beginning January 2019.

Nyack is an undergraduate and graduate-level liberal arts college committed to Christian higher education and educating a diverse student body within major urban centers. The New York City campus is located in a brand new facility with overlooking scenic views of Battery Park and the Hudson River.

Our School of Social Work’s mission is to prepare students for competent, just and compassionate service with diverse populations. Building on the academic excellence of our Bachelor’s in Social Work program, we launched the Master of Social Work Program in August 2015. The Council of Social Work Education has accredited the program with an official date of July 9th, 2018. The MSW program features an advanced clinical practice specialization, which emphasizes the skills of assessment and diagnosis, evidence-based interventions and treatment, group dynamics, and effect of social justice issues on the practice of social work.

The successful candidate for this position is required to have an a PhD in Social Work (ABD considered as long as degree is conferred by August 2018), an MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program, and is eligible to become a licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of New York. Additional requirements include three years post-MSW fulltime clinical practice experience, graduate level teaching experience, excellent oral and written communication; and strong organizational skills. Although the position primarily requires teaching clinical graduate courses, we seek a colleague who is a team player, has an interest in teaching across more than one curriculum area, and is willing to teach combined graduate and undergraduate courses. This position involves teaching a 3/4 course load, scholarship, student advisement, serving on academic committee assignments and involvement in community partnerships.

Essential Functions:

• Teach assigned courses preparing students for careers in fields related to social work.
• Articulate and model current best practices in teaching, especially related to first generation college students.
• Advise and mentor students.
• Develop and review curriculum for courses in social work, including online courses.
