Nyack’s mission is to provide a Christian academic environment where students can gain a liberal arts education that will serve as a foundation for the pursuit of lifelong learning, ethical living, and a successful career. Nyack’s Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences allows students to explore a rich selection of courses in different fields (and according to their diverse interests) in order to help them gain relevant information and broaden their understanding of several academic disciplines in the arts and sciences.
Why Study Liberal Arts and Sciences at Nyack?
Our associate’s degree is ideal for those students who are interested in a variety of academic fields, but who are not yet ready to commit to a major. You’ll learn how to think critically, communicate effectively, make connections across extensive fields of knowledge, and cultivate new interests, skills, and talents—all while expanding your vision of the world.
In addition, the majority of the credits earned as part of this program can be applied toward a bachelor’s degree. In fact, graduates who have planned their programs carefully can transfer into certain bachelor’s degree programs as juniors.
What Will I Study?
In addition to choosing a foreign language and social science, mathematics, art history, laboratory science, and liberal arts electives, you will also study the following:
- Global Literature
- Information Literacy
- World Civilizations
Given that so many employers want a college-educated workforce, an associate’s degree opens the door to a wide variety of entry-level positions.
Having acquired a range of skills in the areas of learning, research, critical thinking, and writing, graduates of our program are better qualified to respond to the demands of an increasingly competitive job market.
