Augustine “Augie” Mascaro is a rock solid alumnus and former employee of Nyack College.
No one summed up that fact better than Rick Santiago, Augie’s late co-worker. After 37 years of employment on the Nyack staff, at a retirement celebration for Augie, Rick said, “If there is ever a Mt. Rushmore made at Nyack, Augie, your face should be on it.”
From 1959 to 1963 and again from 1974 to 1996, he worked on the Buildings and Grounds staff and retired as Head Technician from the College’s Information Technology team in 2006. A member of a Nyack legacy family, Augie’s father, Augustine, Sr.; brother, Kenneth; and his late wife, Kathleen, all attended the College. Augie earned an associate’s degree in Christian education in 1986.
If anyone has gems of Nyack history to share, it would certainly be this pillar of the community. To hear about Augie’s time, beginning in 1967, as an original member of the College’s Brooklyn Gospel Team to his multiple global service-learning trips to Israel with Alliance Theological Seminary, tune in to WNYK 88.7 FM Warrior Radio to enjoy the station’s conversation with Augie.
