West Side Story Off-Broadway…A Successful Eight-Show Run

Geoffrey Chaucer penned in one of his famous works that “all good things must come to an end.”

That was certainly true of the December 11 off-Broadway production of West Side Story featuring the Nyack College Drama Department. Their eight-show run left audiences wanting more or at the very least an encore. (Read Dr. Turk's thoughts on the social relevance of West Side Story in today's world.)

The phenomenal evening and matinee performances of Nyack College students, faculty and guests exhibited a level of professionalism seen on larger stages just blocks away from the American Theatre of Actors in midtown Manhattan.

The vocal talent, acting, choreography, costumes and the set made this an absolute triumph. Everyone involved created a new chapter for the Nyack story–from Dr. Gerard “Jerry Becker,” director of the Nyack College Master of Business Administration program, making his theatre debut to Hannah Jennings, a veteran singer/actress who at the tender age of 11 has now added West Side Story to the list of 26 other productions she’s performed in.

Congratulations to all!
