The Center for Scholarship and Global Engagement (CSGE) will host its Spring Colloquium Series, "Critical Reads on Civic Engagement" featuring guest speaker, Udo Middelmann, president of the Francis A. Schaeffer Foundation. Mr. Middelmann will present his reflections on Eric Liu and Nick Hanahuer's book, The Gardens of Democracy: A New American Story of Citizenship, the Economy, and the Role of Government (2011) by Eric Liu and Nick Hanahuer.
The Coloquium will kick off with Mr. Middelmann presenting on Wednesday, February 1 at 4:00 p.m. at the Rockland campus in President's Hall (Shuman Hall), 185 South Highland Ave., in Nyack.
On Thursday, March 16 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on the Nyack New York City campus, Mr. Middelmann will make the same presentation in The Pavilion, 21st floor at 2 Washington Street in the Battery Park area.
ABOUT UDO MIDDELMANN
Udo Middelmann holds law degrees from Freiburg University, Germany and in theology from Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis, MO. A former CSGE Fellow, Udo has published and lectured widely on ethics and society in many countries on all continents and regularly publishes “Footnotes,” which can be found on the Francis A. Schaeffer Foundation website.
Udo and his wife, Deborah, divide their time between the United States and Switzerland. They have five children and seven grandchildren.
