School of Nursing Granted Accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education

Dr. Inseon Hwang, dean and associate professor of Nyack’s Cheryl Phenicie School of Nursing is delighted to share the outcome of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education’s (CCNE) Board of Commissioners meeting. Nyack’s baccalaureate degree program in nursing has been granted accreditation, effective April 4, 2018, the first day of the program’s CCNE on-site evaluation. This accreditation extends to December 31, 2028. The next on-site evaluation will take place in the spring of 2028.

With gratitude to the Nyack College executive officers and administrators for their support and guidance to uphold the standards of a quality program, colleagues that Dr. Hwang named for exceptional contributions were Dr. Maureen Kroning, associate professor for coordination of clinicals; Dr. Rexi Thomas, assistant professor for excellence in teaching; and Mrs. Grace Mathew, nursing lab coordinator, for overseeing fundamental nursing and physical examination skills. For the excellent contributions of Ms. Serene Mathew, nursing instructor and NCLEX tutor and coach, the new dean, faculty and staff are celebrating more exciting news: 94.7% of Nyack’s nursing students, who recently took the rigorous NCLEX for the first time, passed the exam.

Congratulations to Dr. Hwang and her phenomenal nursing faculty and staff!
