March is National Social Work Month!
This year’s theme established by The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) headquartered in Washington, D.C. is “The Time is Right for Social Work.”
This theme underscores the contributions social workers have made to our nation for more than a century and how the services they provide are needed more than ever as issues like economic inequality, systemic racism, the need for improved health and mental health care, and COVID-19 are addressed and solutions advocated.
Now more than ever social workers are needed in hospitals, mental health centers, schools, social service agencies, community centers and even in politics. The men and women who have answered this noble calling are passionate about serving others.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, social work is one of the fastest growing professions in the United States; currently nearly 720,000 professional social workers serve others. The kind of training needed to be successful in this field is available at Nyack College where
INFORMATION ABOUT NYACK COLLEGE SOCIAL WORK PROGRAMS
Wednesday, March 2, at 6:00 PM a graduate studies in-person information session will be held on campus at 2 Washington Street., New York, NY. Nyack’s social work programs will be among several master’s degrees highlighted. A panel of alumni and current students will speak about their experiences. In addition, this will be an opportunity to converse with key faculty and admissions associates and to take a tour of campus. Dinner will be provided. Register here.
Thursday, March 10 at 7:00 PM, a virtual information session will be held for those interested in pursuing a Master of Social Work degree. This presentation by faculty and staff will provide information about the program, admissions and the financial aid process. Registration can be completed online.
