Last Weekend Performances of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”

Directed by Prof. Shelley Jameson, the Nyack College Opera Workshop will present The Magic Flute by Mozart, fully staged in costume. Prof. Joel Jameson is conductor.

Set in ancient Egypt, The Magic Flute focuses on Tamino, a young prince, who upon hearing from the Queen of the Night that her daughter has been kidnapped, agrees to rescue Pamina. After seeing her picture, he also hopes to eventually marry her. Tamino receives the magic flute to help him to achieve his goals.  He also meets his sidekick Papageno the bird-man who is given magic bells and together they must undergo a series of trials to prove their worthiness to marry the women they love, led by Sarastro, the “priest.”
