Non-profit organization Athletes in Action (AIA) has chosen Nyack’s Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jason Crafton to lead the team that will travel to Auckland, New Zealand this summer. National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and Division II student athletes from across the country will compete in six to eight games against club and university teams during their stay from July 16 to August 11. In addition to building relationships with fellow athletes, team members will conduct clinics and support local campus ministry outreaches.
Coach Crafton, a 2003 Nyack College alumnus, served as an assistant coach for seven years at the United States Naval Academy. Prior to his role at Navy, Crafton served for two years as an administrative assistant with the Villanova men’s basketball program that reached the National Invitational Tournament Quarterfinals in 2004 and the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2005.
During his years as a Nyack student, Crafton was a three-year starter as point guard and two-year captain for the then “Purple Pride.” He was a member of Nyack’s first-ever conference championship team in 2000 that advanced to the national tournament.
