In an undeniable demonstration of God’s plans and purposes prevailing, Alliance Theological Seminary’s extension site in San Juan, Puerto Rico–Teológico de Puerto Rico (STPR)–launched its Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) this fall. The inaugural cohort of 14 students pursuing the degree with a concentration in Christian Leadership in the Global Context recently completed its first classes on a virtual platform.
Dr. Julio Aponte Acosta, who was former executive director of the seminary in Puerto Rico for more than three decades, accepted the invitation to become director of the D.Min. program, after a short-lived retirement. Rev. Rafael Candelaria is now executive director of STPR and is also a member of this first D.Min. cohort.
One thing is sure even as the world faces uncertainty brought on by the global pandemic: the launch of the D.Min. program in Puerto Rico is a powerful reflection of what Dr. Aponte declared over the seminary in 2017 after surviving Hurricane Maria—¡Firmes y Perserverantes! .…“Firm and persevering!”
