Honoring Our Veterans at Nyack

Nyack College is known for being an institution where emerging leaders are educated and equipped to serve. Today men and women, who have served sacrificially and are now being prepared to serve with new tools, were honored with a Veterans Day tribute on the Nyack New York City campus.

These military veterans, some joined by spouses and children, heard greetings from Dr. Michael Scales; powerful prayers by Associate Professor of Bible Dr. David Emanuel and Executive Vice President and Treasurer Dr. David Jennings; musical selections by School of Music alumni Nikos Kline and Amanda Maysonet; and words of encouragement from Associate Professor of  Church History Dr. Louis DeCaro. The program was followed by a catered dinner prepared for the veterans, their families and guests.

Vice President for Church Relations and The Chapel, Dr. Charles Hammond, organized the celebration that recognized the soldiers turned students who are serving in the Reserves or who have served in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines or Coast Guard.  In attendance for the special gathering were Joseph Brickhouse (Navy), psychology and pastoral ministry; Constance Diggs, (Army, National Guard); ATS, M.Div. alumna; Jules Ferguson (Navy) Master of Divinity; Elliot Kim (Army), criminal justice; Anita Maldonado (Air Force Reserves) AGSC, Mental Health Counseling; Nariesh Paltoo, (Army) AGSC, Marriage and Family Therapy; Jesus Alberto Pichardo, (Army) Master of Business Administration; Ivan Santiago (Coast Guard), Psychology; Michael Soaries (Navy), pastoral ministry; Jason Walsh (Marines), Master of Divinity; Jeffrey Walsh (Army National Guard), Master of Divinity; and Joseph Wheeler (Air Force) Business Administration.
