Dr. R. Steven Notley, director of Nyack’s Ancient Judaism and Christian Origins (AJCO), reported from the archaeological dig in Israel with the following update.
Monday, July 10, 2017: Great news! Today we uncovered portions of a mosaic floor from the Roman period. We have a large portion still in situ (in its original place) which we will continue to investigate tomorrow. Below see a picture of yours truly with an intact portion of 30 tesserae to give you some idea of its nature. This is a hugely significant and may be our first evidence of Roman period Bethsaida-Julias. Only time will tell…
Hats off to Dr. Notley, the Nyack team and collaborating colleagues on this exciting news! Check out their latest update here.
