Ernesto and Vanesa Alcantara Make Performing Arts a Ministry Platform

Ernesto and Vanesa Alcantara, husband and wife who are Nyack alumni, are sharing Christ in culture through the performing arts.

On Sunday, October 3 at 7:00 PM at Grace Church, 6941 Columbia Road in Olmstead Falls, OH, Ernesto will headline the “Blown Away” concert, which takes its name from his new single.

The 2011 interdisciplinary studies alumnus also earned an associate’s degree in music in 2012. Today he is  the Worship Arts Pastor at Crossroads Church in Mansfield, OH. A worship team leader during his days at Nyack, Ernesto finds himself in a familiar role, but he and Vanesa have ventured into new territory—acting.

The couple play the role of adoptive parents in the JC Films Studio production “Chosen,” a film soon to be released that examines the challenges and triumphs of foster parenting and adoption. The film also features actor Dean Cain known for his role of Clark Kent/Superman in the TV series, “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.” Ernesto also appeared in another film starring Cain, “One Cop’s Journey,” based on a true story of a police officer’s battle with the stresses and impact of serving in law enforcement.

Vanesa, a 2012 alumna and former employee of Nyack College, has served as the host and a featured speaker at the Crossroads Church women’s event, Soul Scan. She is writing her first book on inner healing through the transformational power of God’s Word.

Congrats to this husband and wife team for using a family-friendly platform to share their God-given gifts and talent.
