Dr. Jerry Becker to Present at International Multidisciplinary Academic Conference

Dr. Gerard “Jerry” Becker, director of Nyack’s MBA program in the School of Business and Leadership, co-authored a research paper, “The Fusion Domain in the Transformative Media Eco-System: A Study in Correlation and Prediction,” which will be presented during the 2019 International Multidisciplinary Academic Conference October 27-28, 2019 in Las Vegas.

Dr. Becker is a noted leadership consultant, author and visiting professor at several universities. He has been recognized as “Faculty Member of the Year,” “Online Instructor of the Year” and received a “Best Paper Award” for research.  Considered a futurist for advocating innovation, he is known for mentoring and developing emerging senior leaders in organizations, as well as for leading major change initiatives in higher education, financial services and the manufacturing and merchandising industries.

Research and authorship of the paper was done in collaboration with two Nyack adjunct professors, Dr. Richard. L. Ponschock and the late Dr. Anthony Wilson, who passed away this spring. The paper will be published in an upcoming  Academic OASIS or International Association of Applied Business Research (IAABR) peer-reviewed journal.

“This research explores how the data we provide online via various sites (Facebook, Instagram, Amazon) is collected, analyzed and then used by various companies for marketing, profit and exploitation,” explains Dr. Becker. “It also examines the various ramifications of providing this data in terms of our individual data security and online profiles.”

Dr. Becker, who is also a professor of management at Nyack, says of his colleague who passed away in June 2019, “Anthony Wilson was a respected marketing professional with experience spanning technical, corporate and marketing communication initiatives, and was an instrumental thought leader in this research. Mr. Wilson’s expertise was in integrated message development and brand positioning for use across promotional disciplines, including public relations, events, advertising, social media, and print promotion.”
