Two Nyack College students, Bianca Hulla (New York City campus) and Michael Harrison (Rockland County campus) are visual artists whose work is featured in an exhibit, “City to Sea: Coney Island” at Walls-Ortiz Gallery and Center in The Triangle Building, 2230 Frederick Douglass Blvd. in Harlem. The exhibit showcases Coney Island—the amusement park and beaches, as well as the ongoing recovery from the 2012 devastation of Hurricane Sandy. When the exhibition concludes on October 25, the “City to Sea” pieces will be on display in London.
Gallery hours for public viewing are Tuesdays: 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays: 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays (Sept. 22, Oct. 20 only): 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Artist talks and community conversations are scheduled at the Walls-Ortiz Gallery during September and October. Bianca will be a featured speaker on Tuesday, October 2, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Over the past two years, Bianca and Michael have worked diligently on the projects with direction from Goldsmiths University in London, creator of the public art initiative. Goldsmiths is a public research university that specializes in the arts, design, humanities, and social sciences.
