Chapel Service Celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month

Bishop Raymond Rivera of The Sanctuary Church and the Latino Pastoral Action Center

Nyack College and Alliance Theological Seminary (ATS) will conclude its 2020 observance of National Hispanic Heritage Month with a virtual chapel service on Thursday, October 15 beginning at 5:10 PM, which will air on Facebook Live.

Greetings will be shared by Rev. Rafael Candelaria, executive director of the extension site of ATS in Puerto Rico, Rev. Rafael Candelaria, Executive Director of Seminario Teológico de Puerto Rico. An ordained minister of The Christian and Missionary Alliance, Rev. Candelaria assumed leadership of STPR when Dr. Julio Aponte Acosta retired in the spring of 2019. Dr. Aponte has humbly accepted the role of director of the Doctor of Ministry program which launched last month.

Bishop Raymond Rivera from the Sanctuary Church in the Bronx, who is also president and CEO of Latino Pastoral Action Center, will be the guest speaker. In 1992, Bishop Rivera he founded LPAC, which was established as a division of the Manhattan-based NYC Mission Society, the City’s oldest and largest social service agency. His vision was to develop an organization that dealt with social justice issues from a holistic perspective.

Praise and worship will be led by ATS student Julian Varner.
