“Boundless energy” sums up the personality of Skerrit Bwoy who will take the stage on Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30 at the Borderline Music Festival featuring an outstanding roster of Christian artists at the Palisades Credit Union Park concert in Pomona, NY.
Off stage, the hyped performer is also 2017 Nyack College summa cum laude graduate, Dale Richardson, who hails from the island of Antiqua, a transplant as a youngster to the Bronx. Captivating an audience is nothing new to Dale after years of touring the club scene around the globe.
Dale’s 180-turn at a Caribbean church altar call became the divine detour leading him away from the raucous club lifestyle to an encounter with the Truth, the Light and the Way. Today the focus is not on himself and his flashy carrot-top Mohawk—but on Jesus Christ.
The circuitous journey to Nyack began with his pastor’s mention of the school during an evening Bible study. As they shared a ride home that evening, a commercial aired on K-Love Christian radio for—none other than—Nyack College. Already enrolled in computer technician classes, he still completed a Nyack application. He had passed his computer certification exam and landed an internship with ASI Systems Integration. On his first day on the job at ASI, he received a call saying he was accepted for admission to Nyack College and his housing was ready and available for move-in.
He easily lists a number of Nyack faculty and staff influences who guided his Nyack College experience. It’s no coincidence that his love of music in a broad spectrum of cultures would find Dale at one of the most diverse campuses in the Northeast region of the United States.
What can the audience expect from Skerrit Bwoy on Saturday? He says, “To have fun! I'm going into my ethnodoxology mode, bringing some Christ-Centric music from all regions of the world—from reggae to soca, hip-hop, salsa, merengue, kompa, zouk, Afro pop and even some traditional gospel/worship music. My goal is to see Palisades Credit Union Park reflect Revelation 7:9—a great multitude from every nation, tribe, people and language.”
