The Nyack College Counseling Center will present a webinar, “Dealing With Stress During COVID-19,” on Thursday, April 8 on Zoom. Speakers will be Director of Counseling Services Mrs. Maggie Labocki and Ms. Monica Kimbrough, an Alliance Graduate School of Counseling (AGSC) student completing her degree in mental health counseling. Topics they will address include learning to identify warning signs of being overstressed; dealing with stress related to school, work, family and COVID-19; as well as how to finetune self-care.
Mrs. Labocki, a 2004 AGSC graduate, joined the Nyack staff in 2010. She is New York State Mental Health licensed and also holds the designations of Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor from the National Board of Certified Counselors. Under her leadership, the Counseling Services Department staff at Nyack shares a common desire to see students thrive in their emotional well-being.
Ms. Kimbrough is a mental health intern at Nyack College and at Montefiore Medical Center. Before beginning her internships, she spent more than fifteen years working as an analyst for several financial companies. Although she gained some success there, her passion has always been to help people work through life’s challenges. Monica believes that change happens when people are given the support they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling, happy lives.
