Alliance Theological Seminary’s 2018 Alumna of the Year

On April 11, 2018, the Alumni Association of Alliance Theological Seminary (ATS) presented Rev. Dr. Mia Chang (Master of Divinity, 2007) with the Alumna of the Year Award at a 2:30 p.m. chapel service at the Rockland County campus of ATS, 350 North Highland Ave., Nyack, NY.

Dr. Chang, (pictured with College Relations Vice President Jeff Quinn) was ordained as a pastor by the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey. In 2008, Rev. Chang planted NextGen Church located in Princeton Junction, New Jersey in West Windsor Township, where she is currently the lead pastor.

She has planted several other faith communities including New Hights Christian Church in Hightstown, New Jersey, which serves a growing community of Latino and Spanish speaking residents and Africa River of Life, a non-governmental organization that meets the needs of communities in Kenya and Nigeria. In 2013, Rev. Chang went on to receive her Doctor of Ministry in 2013 from Palmer Theological Seminary of Eastern University in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.

Her administrative gifting combined with her passion to serve others has opened doors for Rev. Chang to share her expertise with several organizations as a board member. These groups include the Ecclesia Network, which provides training for new church planters and assessments for prospective planters; Mission MYnded International Foundation, a humanitarian non-profit Christian organization; and Spring In the Desert Ministry, a network of missions-oriented churches with a heart for transforming communities with the love and word of God.
