Interlibrary Loan Frequently Asked Questions
Who can use Interlibrary Loan?
If you are a current student, faculty, or staff of ATS/Nyack College you may use the Interlibrary Loan service. Please contact the appropriate person at your primary library location for assistance. Alumni and Outside Borrowers do not have Interlibrary Loan privileges.
How are materials ordered?
Interlibrary loan requests should be submitted thorough the electronic form provided at our website. To avoid delays, be sure to fill out each form fully and accurately. Also, please avoid using any abbreviations. If we have difficulty understanding the information you provided, we will notify you. Please do not submit more than ten requests per day.
What can/can't I borrow?
The following is a list of items that normally are not available through Interlibrary Loan:
On average, it takes about 10-14 working days to receive items through Interlibrary Loan. Items could arrive sooner or later (or sometimes never), depending on a number of circumstances beyond our control. If there are errors in the information you provided, if the item is not widely available, or if the item is missing or non-circulating in the lending library's collection, your request could be delayed.
I need a book that the Library catalog lists as "checked-out" or "on-order". Can I request it through ILL?
No. If the book is on-order or checked out, we recommend you place a hold on it via the Holds/Recalls menu of the online catalog. Circulation will hold the book and notify you when it has been returned. For assistance, contact the Circulation Desk.
Can I get renewals on ILL books?
The lending library determines whether an ILL book can be renewed. If an ILL book cannot be renewed, the paper band on the front of the book will say "No Renewals" under Lending Restrictions. Renewals must be requested at least two days before the due date, and the book must be returned to Circulation on or before the due date, regardless of a renewal request. If you are granted a renewal (or not), you will be notified.
I turned in an ILL request last week but then I found the item at another library. What should I do?
Contact the library you selected as your pickup and return location and let us know so that we can cancel your request.
