I came to Nyack because God really gave me no other option. He made it very clear that he wanted me to attend. After coming I learned how great our program was. Len is so awesome, and going to Ron's classes are life changing almost every time. The community we have is amazing too! True Christian community is something hard to find now, and without a doubt I know God has graciously given that to me here. The people are awesome, and the teachers are even better!
Being at Nyack has been the best two years of my life! I have become a part of several youth ministries, worship teams, and a small group. One amazing thing about the Youth and Family Studies department is how diverse we are! From race to denomination we cover it all. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome! I have made friendships that will last for the rest of my life!
Nyack has been a huge part in my development as a minster, christian, and a youth pastor. This has been a place where God continually has been growing and testing me in my leadership roles. The Youth and Family Studies department is one of the most diverse departments on campus. It is a place where relationships grow and last forever. Y.F.S is a place for You !
I visited Nyack College and finally felt at home. After going through the application process and filling out the major sheet about four times, I then realized that God was calling me to counsel youth. I could of easily went to other schools for business, teaching, english, or management but my only motivation to fulfill those majors was for security and money. Although I am commuter, Nyack is a home for me and makes my dreams accessible. Through the Youth and Family Studies program, God demonstrated his provision in my life through the calling he has given me to counsel and lead youth. It was through this program and school that I am now a boat with a journey towards Christ and working for kingdom.
I first felt a call from God to go into youth ministry when I was in high school. After high school God opened the door for me to come to Nyack College to study youth ministry. God has brought me so far since then. The youth and family studies department at Nyack is great, because unlike other colleges, it takes youth ministry as a serious study. Nothing has challenged me more or grown me more than studying youth ministry at Nyack. I also love that the department is so biblically based. I have made so many friends in the department because we are so well connected with each other. I have learned how to better disciple teenagers and serve Jesus Christ.
All I wanted to do was help kids. I wanted to be there for them when they were hurting and help them find God in those dark times. Oddly enough, I came in to Nyack as a Music Education major, but then proceeded to change my mind seven times. When I was finally ready to listen to God, I couldn’t believe I had avoided Youth ministry for so long; nothing fit better. I finally felt passionate about what I was learning, I was motivated to go to class, I was pushed to excel through all of my assignments. The professors were more than gracious with my game schedules, and worked with me through my sports seasons to keep caught up. I couldn’t be more blessed to be a part of such a wonderful family. It’s hard to give credit to anything other than God; and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of the Youth Ministry department.
