Dr. Greaves addresses media, ethics & peace

Dr. Greaves presented the paper “Hello Kitty, Goodbye Masculinity: Sociology, Cam Newton, and Images of the Black Athlete in Contemporary American Media” at the Global Media Ethics Interdisciplinary Conference at CUNY’s Brooklyn College, interrogating the dissemination practices of American media relative to African American athletes excelling in multiple sport fields.

Additionally, Dr. Greaves also presented a paper at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia at the A Just Peace: Perspectives from the World’s Religions Conference entitled “Reel Harmony: Nigeria’s Nollywood Disseminates Images of Peace in the Ethnically Tense West African Nation” examining specific examples of cinema’s impact on social structures in times of war and peace.
