Available Degrees:
Applicants without Prior Teaching Certificate Two certification degrees with field experiences and an internship: · Master of Science in Childhood Education - Grades 1-6 · Master of Science in Childhood Special Education Grades -1-6 Both prepare you for initial certification as well as meeting the master’s degree requirement toward professional certification. Applicants with Prior Teaching Certificate If you already have initial certification then you know it is only valid for five years. You need a master’s degree in order to get professional certification! You can get certification in another area or an extension to your current certificate in the process of getting your masters in one of the following areas: Three degrees with field experiences and a research thesis: · Master of Science in Childhood Education - Grades 1-6 · Master of Science in Childhood Special Education Grades -1-6 · Master of Science in Inclusive Education with a Gifted Extension, Middle School Extension (Grades 5-6 or 7-9), or Bilingual Extension
How long will it take to complete a degree?
Courses are five weeks in length. The students attend class two nights a week for 4 hours. Field-based experiences are found in many classes. All students are required to complete professional experiences after coursework (research, practicum, and/or internships), resulting in successful completion of the program in as little as 20 months.
