Personal Questions |
Tell us about your spiritual journey. |
I was converted to Christianity at the age of 33 while working at Samsung America Inc., and felt called to ministry at the age 37. God brought me to ATS for preparation for ministry. After graduating ATS, I planted a church at Roslyn, NY, which I served for two years as senior pastor while serving at Nyack College Korean Extension site, which I started in a church building in Queens in June, 1994. Since then, I have been serving Nyack College as a professor of Bible and Biblical languages. |
Tell us about your family |
| It has been 26 years since I married Myungja, who is serving as a librarian at Nyack College Manhattan Center. I have two children. The first born is Grace Kim, who lives a happy marriage life with Joshua Kim, her husband, and Josiah my grandson. Jay is my son and is almost 22 years old. He is a senior at the Tisch School of Arts of New York University. He majors in Film directing. He is a very very good looking sweet boy. |
Any outside interests or hobbies? |
| I used to love all kinds of sports, but I have a variety of physical difficulties playing them. So, I tend to be content to watching the baseball games. What I enjoy doing on a daily base is walking in the woods. |
How were you led to Nyack and/or why are you here? |
| As I have already stated, I was led to ATS for my pastoral ministry, and after my graduation from ATS, I was invited by Nyack College to teach two Greek courses at its extension site, and after a semester of teaching part time, I was invited by President Schroeder to start a new Korean Extension Program. I accepted his invitation under the condition that I serve Nyack for a year. That one year committment is now extended to 11 years here. |
What does your faith mean in your classroom or discipline? |
| All knowledges have their foundation on the revelation of God through Bible and His Son, Jesus Christ. Thus, I cannot think any discipline or classroom teaching apart from my faith in Jesus Christ. |
What does your faith mean in relationships (particularly with students)? |
| It is the providence of God that brought these students to me. My job is to encourage and help them to accomplish the divine potential them. |
What are your favorite courses to teach? |
| I taught the New Testament Greek courses for 10 years at Nyack College as well as the New Testament and the Old Testament. These are all my favorite courses. |
