Faith & Justice for the Common Good

The Institute for Public Service & Policy Development (IPS) is a faith-centered academic center powered by Nyack College’s Capitol Hill campus in Washington, D.C.  IPS prepares professionals for national and international government and nonprofit service.  Committed to achieving authentic justice for the common good, IPS functions as a safe place where differing multi-partisan views can be addressed with civility, respect, honesty and trust; and where thoughtful solutions to the challenges of contemporary society can be sought. Programs include public lectures, public symposia, certificates in public study, and the Mark O. Hatfield Fellows Program.

IPS began in April of 2009 with a community development event called "Loving Thy Neighbor."  The program featured Joshua DuBois, (head of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships), former congressman Walter Fauntroy (D- Washington, D.C.), Bishop Harry Jackson (Senior Pastor of Hope Christian Church), Kay Coles James (President  & Founder of Gloucester Institute), Barbara Williams-Skinner (Chair of the Christian Community Development Association) and Jim Wallis (President of Sojourners).
