Spiritual Formation Staff
Director of Spiritual Formation – Wanda Walborn
Wanda Walborn is currently in her eleventh year as the Director of Spiritual Formation at the Rockland County campus of Nyack College. The 1984 Nyack alumna is also an adjunct professor in Nyacks College of Bible and Christian Ministry where she teaches courses such as Introduction to Women in Ministry, Introduction to Spiritual Formation, and Developing a Womans Gifts and Calling. She had earned a master's degree in intercultural studies at Alliance Theological Seminary and is currently working on her doctorate from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. Whether she is inside or outside of the classroom, Wanda lives out her passion, which is to train and mentor emerging leaders. As she pours into the lives of young men and women, her desire is that they grasp the depth and breath of Gods love for them and that they live lives without compromise for the Lord Jesus Christ.
With her husband, Dr. Ronald Walborn, dean of Alliance Theological Seminary, she planted and pastored Risen King Community Church in Redding, California from 1989-1999. In addition to her experience in church leadership, she also draws from her roles as pastors wife, homemaker, mother, and educator, as she speaks at venues around the globe to audiences that include both laypeople and leaders.
The Walborns are the parents of four children, Kelly, Brice, Karis, and Karly. In her free time, she enjoys sports, reading, the outdoors and-above all, spending time with her family.
Administrative Assistant – Heather Garcia
Heather Garcia serves as the Administrative Assistant for the Office of Spiritual Formation. She attended Nyack College as a Pastoral Ministry major. She has worked for Nyack College since 2002 and is actively involved at her church, The River, in Pearl River, NY. Heather is passionate about prayer, mentoring, preaching, and personal spiritual formation. She and her husband, Paul, have four sons, Isaac, Rylan, Jude and Liam.
Isaac graduated from Nyack College in 2011 with a degree in Music, trumpet performance. He currently serves as the intern over small groups here at Nyack and is halfway done with his M.A. program in Spiritual Formation and Leadership at Spring Arbor University.
Kong graduated from Northwestern Bible College in 2011 with a degree in Christian Ministries and Christian Counseling. Currently, Kong is pursuing his M.Div in Church Development at Alliance Theological Seminary. He serves as an intern with our PAVE program.
Emmanuel graduated from New Jersey Institute of Technology with a degree in Biology. He is currently pursuing his M.Div at Alliance Theological Seminary. Emmanuel serves as an intern with our PAVE program.
Originally from Boston, MA, Mitch has spent the past several years leading worship in the tri-state area for various churches, retreats, revivals, and conferences. He is passionate about music, sound engineering and discovering new forms of worship. He is a graduate of the 2012 Bethel School of Worship. Mitch is married to his best friend Anna and is thankful for her support and prayers.
Gordon Lanpher is from North Dakota. He originally came to Rockland County to obtain his undergrad degree in Pastoral Ministries from Nyack College. After getting his degree he moved back to North Dakota where he met and married his wonderful wife Noelle Lanpher. He is now back at Nyack College pursing his Master’s Degree. He is currently working for the office of Spiritual Formation as Intern Coordinator.
