Note:  All current students, faculty and staff have access to all resources at all three libraries (ATS, Bailey and Wilson Libraries), can request books from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan, and can access online resources on and off-campus through institutional authentication.

1.   Books

a. Print Books:  Using “Search Encore” on the library website www.nyack.edu/library
Number of print books with “Philosophy ”  as subject:  3347
Number of print books with “Religion ”  as subject: 3852

b. E-Books:  Using “Search Encore” on the library website
Number of e-books in online catalog with “Philosophy” as subject: 3387

c. Search other libraries and request item to be delivered to Bailey Library using Interlibrary Loan services (online form on library website)

2.   Journals

“Search Encore” on the library website and choose “Articles Tab”: Note: this is a new feature of the library system we began using in July 2014.  We have a discovery service as part of our system, which links full-text articles from many of our journal databases with the print books, e-books and audiovisuals in our library catalog using one search.

  1. Information Literacy Support:  Librarians teach a 1-credit required Information Literacy course required of all in-coming students.  This provides a foundation for students to develop effective research skills using the library resources.  Library staff is also available for customized information literacy sessions for specific courses and assignments as requested by faculty.

 

  1. Ongoing support for new materials
    The librarians collaborate with teaching faculty to continue to purchase print and online resources to support specific courses and assignments as needed.
