Bachelor of Music in Composition


Nyack’s Music Composition program is designed to prepare qualified students for careers in composition and arranging.  Students are also prepared for graduate studies in these fields.

What Will I Study?

Nyack’s Music Composition majors take courses in the liberal arts and sciences, Bible and Christian ministry, and the following music components:

  • Music Theory, Analysis, and Ear Training

  • Music History and Literature

  • Music Technology and Studio Recording

  • Music and Worship

  • Composition, Orchestration, and Improvisation

  • Private Applied Lessons (Composition and Instrument/Voice)

  • Performance: Individual and Ensemble

Career Opportunities

Graduates of Nyack’s Music Composition program are prepared for careers in composition and arranging for recording studios, film, television, and stage.  Our students are also prepared for professions as music publishers, arrangers, and teachers.  Students may also pursue graduate studies in composition and theory.
