Obituary for Dr. Rex Boda
REXFORD ARTHUR BODA’S HOMEGOING
MAY 9, 1933 - AUGUST 4, 2017
Rex Boda’s family regrets to announce his homegoing on Friday, August 4, 2017, in Kissimmee, Florida, at 84 years of age. Rex was one who deeply loved his God, his family, friends, and community. He would want you to know that his passing was a peaceful one at home with Jean, his beloved wife of 59 years. His family finds great comfort in the fact that he entered into the presence of his Savior and is now part of God’s forever family in heaven.
Husband, father, grandfather, and great-father, Rex is lovingly remembered by Jean, his beloved wife of 59 years and their seven children: Kim (Dave) Williams, Matt (Jamie), Mark (Beth), Mike (Heather), Tim (Christy), Kristal (Dan) Templin, and Keri (Jon) Waring. His 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren are all saddened by the loss of a loving and deeply interested grandfather.
Passionately committed to ministry training and theological education over the course of a lifetime, Rex proudly served the Dryden, New York, school district; Canadian Bible College/Canadian Theological Seminary in Regina, Saskatchewan; Nyack College/Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, New York; and Westminster Theological Seminary in Glenside, Pennsylvania.
At heart, Rex was a farmer, wrestler, teacher and leader. Each of these - whether a vocation or avocation - were of great interest to him throughout his life. Many of his stories focused on those four arenas of activity.
A celebration of Rex’s life will take place at Good Samaritan Community Church in Kissimmee, Florida, on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow in the Village Community Center. A memorial graveside service will take place in the Ithaca, New York area on a date to be set for this fall.
Photos, memories and condolences can be shared with Rex’s family by emailing GratefulForRex@gmail.com. The family would love to hear from any and all who knew Rex.
The destination of donations in Rex’s memory is still to be determined. We encourage all of those interested in honoring Rex in this way to forward an email to the address above expressing your interest.
