On Saturday May 8th, Nyack College had its Commencement program at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY.
It was a beautiful day - the weather was perfect - the sun was shining bright....just like our graduates!
They came from near and far. Their stories were varied and unique. Some were the first to graduate in their families, while others overcame major obstacles during their time with us. Families too, were here from all over the world. Fathers with beaming smiles, mothers with tears of joy in their eyes, and siblings shouting with glee or taking photos on iphones, cellphones or cameras. It was an incredible, emotional, and amazing time.
"Commencement" - what a great word! This day marked the end of a season in the lives of our graduates, but it also signified the beginning of a new season, a season full of possibilities and full of hope and full of dreams. Some of our graduates will start jobs, others will start families, while others will pursue additional degrees. Whatever they do, they will enter the world as Nyack Warriors!
You are now more equipped to be the Salt and Light that Jesus wants you to be! No matter where you go from here, know that Our Lord is with you, and if He is with you, no one can be against you.
I leave you with this simple prayer from Numbers 6:24-26,
May the LORD bless you and keep you;
may the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
may the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
Congratulations to the Class of 2010!
