Antaeus Goes Pro!

Posted by Deborah.Walker on Thursday December 1, 2005

Former Nyack All-American guard, Antaeus Hayes (05), recently joined KFI, a team in Icelands Division I professional basketball league.

Three days after his arrival in Reykjavik, Iceland, Hayes suited up with his new team for the first time. In a phenomenal debut, he pumped  in 26 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a tough 3-point loss to league rival Drangur.

A former All-CACC and NYC All-Met selection, Hayes scored over 1,000 points in his two-year career with the Warriors. He is the first player in the history of the Nyack basketball program to sign a professional contract. He is the eighth player that Coach Jones has worked with (either as an assistant or head coach) to reach the professional ranks.

Antaeus said, "I am thankful for my parents and for Coach Jones because they never stopped believing in me. They kept pushing me and encouraging me to reach my potential." Antaeus will return to the United States for the Iceland League's mid-season break sometime in January 2006. He will visit Nyack during this time and will be honored at a men's basketball home game.
