This evening, March 16, a team of 12 persons will be flying from New York to Penang, Malaysia. Upon arrival they will be staying at the home of Tom and Barb Mangham, CMA missionaries on loan to Evangelism Explosion, and Nyack College’s Missionaries in Residence during the 2003-2004 school year. Tom has developed a program called The Second Wave that is designed to bring spiritual relief to survivors who have in most cases received only physical and material relief from their plight.
The team will be visiting several of the sites devastated by the December tsunami, and will be ascertaining what contribution Nyack students, faculty and staff might be able to make in the near future, as well as what might be done to address long-term needs.
The team is being led by Dr. Ed Stuart and includes students, staff, and an area pastor. The twelve would like prayer for all of the following items:
1. Safety in travel, out and back;
2. A sense of unity and cooperation on the part of the members of the team;
3. Protection against the spiritual oppression and sense of despair that is common in these
4. Wisdom to know what may be done, in the short term and in the long term.
Thanks for your prayers!
