Nyack Honored By Community Organization

The Board of Directors of the Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center hosted its 17th Annual Awards Benefit Dinner Dance recently at the Empire Pavilion Ballroom of the Holiday Inn in Montebello, NY. Nyack College was one of several honorees recognized for ongoing contributions to the Rockland County community and to the Center.

The College was represented by Earl Miller, Nyack’s Executive Director for Community Relations (pictured in center of photo above), who accepted the award.


Nyack’s relationship was the Center was initiated by former Dean of Academic Support Services, Dr. Joyce Simon, and continues with Nyack students have worked at the Center in the after school program for children in the Rockland community.


Last year, the Center benefited from the fundraising efforts of Nyack students, who raised $1,000 doing a variety of jobs in the community, including office work and organizing large storage areas at the local YMCA. Proceeds helped with the center’s financial deficit.
