Nyack’s Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy at Alliance Graduate School of Counseling (AGSC) was ranked #4 on the Best Counseling Degrees 2017 list of “Top 25 Most Affordable Master’s Degrees in Counseling in the Northeast.” Read more about this tremendous recognition.

Groundwork for Alliance Graduate School of Counseling was begun in 1982 by its visionary founder, the late Dr. Craig Ellison who wanted to develop a graduate level counseling program with the ability to train future counselors to address the psychospiritual needs of hurting people in the church, on the mission field, in the city, and in the community. Dr. Ellison was named Distinguished Professor of Urban Studies and Counseling. AGSC became a reality in 1999 with an inaugural class of 18 counseling students earning the MA in Mental Health Counseling.

The Marriage & Family Therapy degree was launched in 2008. Today this popular program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE).
