National Recognition Earned by Another Nyack Education Department

Posted by Deborah.Walker on Monday July 24, 2006

The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) has granted the status of Nationally Recognized to Nyacks Adolescent English Education Program. This recognition is the result of the excellent English content delivered by the English Department and the comprehensive teaching instruction by the Adolescent Education Department. Both content and instructional components were evaluated based on a rigorous set of standards. If a program meets all the standards of NCTE, then national recognition is granted. Congratulations are due to the professors in both the English and Education Departments for their efforts that achieved this honor for Nyack College.

The Adolescent English program joins other Nyack education departments that have received national recognition. The prestigious distinction was also awarded to Music Education by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM); to Childhood Education by the Association of Childhood Education International (ACEI) and to Adolescent Math Education by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).

The School of Education has also been granted National Accreditation by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). These are excellent secular professional accreditation additions to the Christian accreditation granted by the Association of Christian Schools International.
