Bianca Mercedes of Inwood Academy for Leadership Charter School (www.inwoodacademy.org) spoke to both Manhattan and Rockland Senior Student Teaching Seminars in September. Highlighting techniques implemented at Inwood taken from Lemov’s book, Teach Like A Champion, Ms. Mercedes stressed the importance of school culture in promoting and sustaining a context for academic excellence.  In addition, she provided clear strategies for setting and maintaining high behavioral expectations in the classroom.  Inwood Academy is one of the School of Education’s partner schools.
