Dr. Vilma Balmaceda Trains International Leaders on Human Rights, Peacemaking and Restorative Justice

Dr. Vilma C. Balmaceda, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Political Science, presented a discussion paper to human rights defenders in Lima, Peru on August 2010 on the relationship between human rights and the development of human capacities.  With Chip Zimmer, Vice President of International Ministries, Dr. Balmaceda co-led two seminars at the Peacemakers National Conference in September 2010 in Virginia: 1) The Role of Justice in Peacemaking and 2) Basic Training in Peacemaking for Hispanic Pastors and Church Leaders (taught in Spanish).   She also spoke on the “Principles of Restorative Justice” at a Conference for members of the Judiciary in Guayaquil,  Ecuador.
