Dr. Larry Poston, Professor of Religion, publishes a Book Review on Ecclesial Identities in a Multi-faith Context: Jesus Truth-Gatherings (Yeshu Satangs) among Hindus and Sikhs in Northwest India by Darren Todd Duerksen in Missiology: An International Review (October 2015).

What’s one new thing you learned from the book? And what are your thoughts about this?

"While I have long been familiar with the 'Christian ashrams' founded by E. Stanley Jones and similar phenomena in India, the development of the 'Yeshu satsangs' was new to me. But here, as in other situations where 'contextualization' has (in my opinion) gone beyond what the New Testament allows, the satsang founders are sincere but theologically misguided persons who have essentially compromised their Christian witness by seeking to retain as much as possible of their Hindu and Sikh cultural backgrounds."

Dr. Poston earned his Ph.D from Northwestern University, M.A. from Trinity Divinity School and B.A. from Grace College of the Bible. He also received the 2010 and 2015 Arts and Sciences Scholar of the Year.
