2012 Convocation Invocation

New York City Campus

Magnificent and benevolent God,

At the advent of our 2012 scholarly journeys, we gather together tonight to invoke the guidance of Your Presence: Father, Son, and Spirit. We reflect back, drawing strength from Your faithful provision for all our needs, as we anticipate Your continued sustenance for our bodies, minds, and spirits. We make our plans, but You order our steps.

As our students pursue their dreams, endow them with sound minds and courageous hearts.

As our administration and staff govern, endow them with justice and mercy.

As our faculty teaches, endow their leadership with wisdom and valor.

As our deans preside over our scholarship, endow them with honor and benevolence.

As our CFO, Dr. David Jennings, manages our finances, endow him with shrewdness and acumen.

As our Provost, Dr. David Turk, establishes and supervises our policies and procedures, endow him with nobility and integrity.

As our President, Dr. Mike Scales, pursues Your vision for Nyack, endow him with clarity and fortitude to valiantly lead this institution.

Undergird our academic pursuits with excellence, tempered with grace and humility. Nurture within us a global perspective tempered with care and compassion. Bestow on us a heart for diversity. Spiritually transform us through the integration of Christian faith and critical thinking. In all our endeavors, further prepare us to serve as agents of healing and reconciliation to a broken world. We long to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servants.”

This year, may we all embody faith, hope, and love.

And when all is said and done, let the banner over us be LOVE!
