Dr. Sharron Greaves, Chair of the Department of Communications, presented a paper at the International Visual Sociology Association Annual Conference at St. Francis College, July 9-11, 2012.  The International Visual Sociology Association is dedicated to exploring the sociological impact of imagery on cultures.  The theme of this year’s conference was Re-Visualizing The City.

Dr. Greaves paper, “From Los Angeles to Lagos: Images of Black City Life in Hollywood and Nollywood Films,” juxtaposes differing reflections of black life in urban settings, and examines the salience and timeliness of a non-Western film industry in depicting such images.
