Dr. Michael Huster, Professor of Physics, lectures at The Nyack Library on Monday, June 4, 2012. In his talk, "The Transit of Venus," Dr. Huster examines how Venus is transiting the Sun (coming directly between the Earth and the Sun) from 6:03pm until sunset on June 5, 2012. This last happened at sunrise on June 8, 2004, and will not happen again until the year 2117! Dr. Huster will explain the significance of this unusual astronomical event, and give tips on how to observe the event safely. An observing party will be scheduled, weather permitting, for the transit.
