Dr. James Romaine, Chair of the Department of Art History, recently served as guest professor for a Pratt Institute course entitled, “Van Gogh–Up Close.”  His talk was delivered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on February 18, 2012 to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in Pratt Institute’s School of Art and Design.

Dr. Romain's lecture examined the work of the post-Impressionist from the perspective of Van Gogh's Dutch models and his nativist traditions rather than typical analyses that addresses the artist's work as a factor of the French avant-garde.
