Baseball Announces 1st Four Signings for 2010
Men's Baseball
Nyack, NY- The men's baseball program has announced its first set of signings for the upcoming 2011 season. Joining the Warriors this fall will be Cole Tobin (Dover, NH/ Dover HS), Jose Rodriguez (Spring Valley, NY/ East Ramapo), Jean-Pierre Crespo (San Juan, PR/ Monroe College), and David Hugo (Long Island, NY/ Suffolk C.C.).
Tobin, (pictured above with his mother and father) is a right handed pitcher and corner infielder, arrives at Nyack after a senior season in which he hit .500 with 6 home runs, and a team high 26 runs batted in. Tobin was also an all-state selection as a junior.
Jose Rodriguez (pictured above with East Ramapo high school coach and athletic director Bill Pilla) will look to provide help behind the plate at the catching position. Rodriguez led his team this spring with a .436 batting average and is a two-time 1st team all-county and all-league selection.
Jean-Pierre Crespo comes to Nyack from Monroe College where he red-shirted this past season. Jean-Pi will join his brother Pierre, who has spent the past two seasons as the Warriors 2nd baseman. Jean-Pi will compete immediately for time in the outfield. Crespo was a two-time high school team MVP.
David Hugo comes to Nyack from Suffolk County Community College where he was part of the Longhorns 2009 World Series Team. Hugo red-shirted this past season and will begin his sophomore season this year at Nyack. Hugo graduated from Our Savior New American in 2008 and was a two-time all-league selection at pitcher.
Baseball Comes to a Close at Philadelphia,L 5-2, L 16-13

Philadelphia, PA- The men's baseball season came to a close yesterday afternoon at Philadelphia University with two losses, 5-2 and 16-13. The Warriors finish the 2010 campaign with an overall record of 9-31.
Senior Eric Lloyd would go the distance in the final start of his college career in game 1, going all 8 innings allowing 5 hits and striking out 7. JD Calabrese would go 2 for 3 with an rbi.
In game two the Warriors would see an early lead dissapear before eventually falling in a slugfest 16-13. The Warriors would double their season home run total with 3 home runs in game two. Carlos Hidalgo would hit his 2nd blast of the year over the left field fence and the very next batter, Zach McVadon would follow with a 430+ foot bomb to right center field. Mike Frank would also contribute his first home run of 2010 with a game tying grand slam that made the score 13-13 in the top of the 7th.
Senior Mark Alicea would pitch outstanding in his first and only start on the mound in his college career, going 3 and 1/3 innings allowing 0 earned runs and striking out 2 Rams. The Warriors would bang out 16 hits in the losing effort, with Seniors PJ Rodriguez and Jonathan Mott each collecting 2 hits a piece and a stolen base in the final games of their college careers. Mike Frank would finish game two a single short of the cycle at 3 for 6 with 6 rbi's and Pierre Crespo, Zach McVadon, JD Calabrese, and Carlos Hidalgo all added 2 hits a piece.
Men's Baseball Upends Bloomfield on Senior Day 3-2
Men's Baseball
Nyack, NY- The men's baseball team earned a 3-2 win on Senior Night by defeating Bloomfield College in a non-conference game at Nyack High School. Seniors Jonathan Mott (4 years), PJ Rodriguez (2 years), Eric Lloyd (3 years), Mark Alicea (2 years), and Derrick Gamble (4 years) were honored in a short ceremony before the game.
Men's Baseball Swept by Bloomfield 1-0, 8-4
Men's Baseball
Newark, NJ- The men's baseball team was swept this afternoon by Bloomfield College at West Side Park by a score of 1-0, and 8-4. The Warriors fall to 4-12 in the CACC, and 8-26 on the season.
The Warriors would fall 1-0 in game 1 despite a complete game effort from Kevin Earlie. Earlie would allow 0 earned runs, spreading out 5 hits and striking out 2. Pierre Crespo and PJ Rodriguez would be bright spots in the loss with 2 hits a piece.
In game 2, the Warriors would lead 4-3 after two innings but Bloomfield would score 5 unanswered runs in the final 7 frames before winning 8-4. Wayne Richardson would pitch 9 innings in the loss, allowing 6 earned and striking out 4 Deacons.
Carlos Hidalgo would go 2 for 4 in the loss.
The Warriors return to action this Friday when they host Dominican College in a non-conference game at 7 PM at Nyack HS.
Baseball Sweeps USP 8-3, 3-2
Men's Baseball
Philadelphia, PA- The men's baseball team completed their first double-header road sweep of 2010 with two CACC wins over USP this afternoon at FDR park. The Warriors are now 8-23 on the season and sit at 4-9 in CACC play.
In game 1 Nyack would jump out to an early 2-0 lead, but USP would rally to tie the game at 2 in the bottom of the 6th. The Warriors would add 4 runs in the 8th and 2 in the 9th to seal the victory. Wayne Richardson picks up his 2nd victory of the season, going 7 strong innings and allowing 3 earned. JD Calabrese finished the final 2 innings to pick up his 2nd save of the season.
Calabrese would also turn out a 4 for 5 performance in game 1, Mike Frank would finish the game 2 for 3 with 2 rbi's, Jose Alberro also went 2 for 4. Luis Caceres would go 1 for 1 in the game with 2 rbi's.
In game two, it would take the Warriors extra innings to notch their 3rd and winning run as they went on to the 3-2 victory. Eric Lloyd posted a solid start for Nyack, going 7 innings, allowing 1 earned run and striking out 5. Mike Frank picks up his first victory of the season, pitching a scoreless 8th and 9th inning, and JD Calabrese picked up his 2nd save of the day after throwing a scoreless frame in the 10th.
Calabrese and Frank would each post 2 more hits in game 2, and Luis Caceres would finish the game 3 for 4 with 2 rbi's including the game winning single in the top of the tenth.
The Warriors return to action this Monday when they host rival Dominican College at home at 7 PM.
