PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 24, 2011) – The Nyack Warriors represented well and took home some hardware at the Metro College Championships hosted by Philadelphia University.
Senior and Captain, Stuart Guild was the first Nyack runner on the men’s side to finish the 8,000 meter course. Guild completed the race placing in the top-20 among 123 entrants. On the women’s side, Senior, Brianna Meyers was the first Nyack runner to finish the 5,000 meter course– along with freshman, Pamela Code who trailed shortly after. Both ladies placed in the top-20 as well, among 100+ competitors. All individuals who place in the top-20 for both the men and women’s race received trophies for their achievements. Many others on the team were able to set personal bests and compete at a high level.
Overall the men’s team champion went to Felician College as Philadelphia University was the runner-up. The women’s team champion went to Philadelphia University and the runner-up was Wilmington University.
Both of Nyack’s men and women’s team were able to beat three of the schools whom of which are in their CACC Conference. Only the third race of the season and the warriors are already seeing a great deal of progress and were primarily just happy to race and see their conference course (as a few changes will be made to the men’s course). They have one more opportunity of doing so again in a couple of weeks before their most important race of the season taking place the last week of October.
The Running Warriors will continue racing on Friday, September 30th as they make their way down south again to compete in their biggest meet of the season - The 2011 Lehigh University Paul Short Run: Presented by BROOKS.
