Bronx, NY (September 10, 2011) – For the past two weeks, incoming freshman, Pamela Code has been the top runner carrying the Lady Warrior team. She was the first runner in from Nyack last week where the ladies took 5th place at the Vassar Invite; and at the invite hosted by Fordham University, Code did it again.
The Warriors rarely ever compete close by here in their home state but when they do, they always have the opportunity to partake racing on very well know difficult courses. The 2nd hardest racing course in New York State is in Long Island at the Sunken Meadow State Park. Just last season, St. Josephs College held their invite there and the Running Warriors took 3rd place and in addition, their top runners placed in the top-20 of the entire meet. The 1st hardest course in the New York State is at Vancortland Park – where Nyack raced this past weekend for the Fordham Fiasco Meet. The course consisted of many tough hills and these Running Warriors came ready, conquering them all.
It was definitely a thrilling learning experience taking on the many challenges of this event, racing amongst some new competition, and to even see three rival schools present from their CACC Conference. Code finished in an impressive 33rd place out of the 148 field and swept three of rival, Dominican College’s top-5 runners and all of rival, Felician College’s top-5 ladies. Rival, Philadelphia University’s team took 3rd place overall, loosing to (non-conference teams) East Stroudsburg University (2nd), and Rowan University (1st).
Nyack has the weekend off from racing next Saturday as the group engages in a team community service project. They will resume racing again on Saturday, September 24th for the Philly Metro Classics 5k at Belmont Plateau – Philadelphia, PA.
