Warriors Race In The Heat & Place 11th out of 25 At Small Metro College Championships
Men's Cross Country
Philadelphia, PA-- On a sunny afternoon in Belmont Plateau, the temperatures grew close to ninety degrees, as twenty-five schools came together to run a hilly 8,000 meter course. Eight of the twenty-five colleges/universities present were of Nyack's CACC conference. The Running Warriors placed eleventh overall (and sixth out of all the institutions in their conference). With such uncomfortable weather conditions having a negative impact on the race, the majority of the runners finished in slower times than usual.
First in from the Running Warriors was sophmore, Stuart Guild (Hicksville, NY) who finished in 32:12. Next to arrive from Nyack was sophmore Ben Wallin (Rensselarville, NY) at 33:08. Senior/captain, Aaron Baldwin (Port Byron, NY) was third to arrive at 34:00, the fourth in was freshman Robert Lafond (Milford, CT) at 34:33, and concluding the Nyack scoring, was freshman, Keith Lindsay (Frederick, MD) at 35:08.
With much growth still ahead, Nyack continues their training and will look forward to a weekend off from racing this Saturday, October 2nd 2010. They will be engaging in local community service/team building activities as they give back. The following weekend, Saturday October 9th, 2010, both the Men and Women's Cross Country Team will be hosting their annual Homecoming 5k Road Race taking place on their campus (applications are available to download on men or women's page). The Running Warriors won't return back racing competitively again until Saturday, October 16th at the 44th UAlbany Cross Country Invitational.
