Many years ago, when the Athletic Department consisted of only three full-time staff, they had a vision. The vision was for Nyack College to have a fitness center on campus. Although former Men's Basketball Coach, Scott Fleming, had established the Moseley weight room, there was a need for more equipment and more space.
In the summer of 1996, Nyack College leased the Hilltop School, located adjacent to the Nyack College property, which provided enough space to build a quality weight room.
The old elementary school cafeteria was converted into locker rooms, office space and a beautiful fitness center. Through auctions and equipment donations from The Diplomat Fitness Center of Piermont, NY, the Fitness Center opened its doors as a fully equipped facility complete with nautilus, free-weights, stationary bicycles, and treadmills. In recent years, the Fitness Center has added an extra treadmill, an ellyptical machine and a cable crossover machine.
During peak times, the Center serves an average of 150 patrons a day. Under the current direction of Men's Basketball Coach John D. Jones, the Fitness Center welcomes all Nyack College faculty, staff, students and alumni as our guests.
