Nyack, NY- The women's softball team has announced its 1st 3 signings for the upcoming fall in Alexandra DeVries (Bay Shore, New York), Theresa Hendrix (Cheverus High School, Maine), and Bethany Reed (Tiverton, Rhode Island).
Alexandra DeVries is a 3 sport Athlete who has garnered all-conference awards as a softball player, an All-County selection in bowling and an All-League volleyball player. For the past 6 years and this summer, she has played travel softball with the Long Island Express.
Theresa Hendrix has led Cheverus High School over the past couple of years to be one of the top teams in Western Maine (Class A). In her junior year as Co-Captain and pitcher she had a record of 11-5, 124 strikeouts with only 30 walks along with a 1.69 era..This past season for Cheverus she batted .446 with a slugging percentage of .804 leading the team in hits , doubles , tied for triples, and steals. She has made 2nd team all-conference the past two years. In 2008 she lead the U-16 Southern Maine Flames(one of the top softball programs in Northern New England) in hitting with a .448 batting average. Theresa has been a 4 year varsity player in Softball, Field Hockey and Basketball and has been a captain in all three sports in her Junior and Senior years.Theresa is also a captain on the field hockey team that finished with a 15-2 and lost 2-1 in the Western Maine championship.Also, she was made the all-academic team in Field Hockey and Basketball. Her senior year in Basketball she made the All Defensive team(Western Maine class A) 2nd team all conference as she lead Cheverus to its best finish in History (13-5) .
Bethany Reed is from Tiverton R.I., and currently plays on the Bishop Stang High School softball team. Her primary defensive position is first base, and she is a three time EAC All-Star. In addition to that, she was named to the Fall River Herald News All-Scholastic softball team in 2009. From the age of 10, Beth has playedtravel softball with the Southeastern Mass. Xtreme. While playing for the 18U Xtreme in 2009, she achieved a batting average of .425, with 2 homeruns and 32 RBI’s.
