Men's Baseball
4/10/09- In a tight game, with little room for error, the Nyack College Baseball team allowed two unearned runs, along with a bases-loaded walk to make the difference in their home game with Wilmington University this evening, as the Warriors gave the Cougars the game, 1-3. Warrior starting pitcher Taylor Getzke (Jr., Cairo, NY) fanned 10 batters, spreading out 6 hits over 8.0 innings of work; but it was s series of walks that allowed Wilmington to tie the game at 1-1 in the 4th inning. A Nyack error with 2 outs in the 6th inning eventually turned into the Cougars go ahead run.
The Warriors matched Wilmington with 7 hits on the night and had more than one chance to break the game open, with runners in scoring position, but were unable to get a clutch hit. Firstbaseman Cody Levins (Sr., McKinney, TX) led the Warriors with 3 hits, including an RBI double. Shortstop PJ Rodriguez (Jr., Levittown, PR) and thirdbaseman Jon Mott (Jr., Bronx, NY)both had two hits for the Warriors.
Nyack continues the series with Wilmington tomorrow when they travel to take on the Cougars in a CACC doubleheader.
